What should staff do when an event guest enters the wrong email?

Agree a correction process for mistyped delivery details before the event. The operator should know whether the chosen setup supports correction or resend, how to identify the right session and when to contact support. Do not improvise by collecting addresses on an exposed sheet.
Confirm the supported workflow.
Ask the provider to demonstrate the correction method for the proposed configuration. Identify which staff roles can access delivery records. Test whether a corrected address affects only delivery or also any separately collected marketing information.
Give the attendant a short explanation they can use with the guest. Keep the conversation discreet and avoid reading addresses aloud to the queue.
Keep the guest expectation clear
Explain what action staff have taken and how the guest can request further help. Avoid promising a fixed delivery time unless the service arrangement supports it. A print, if already included, may be a separate takeaway rather than proof that the email worked.
Add this scenario to the delivery test. Rehearsing the correction is more useful than merely knowing that a support number exists.
A private support script
Use: “Let’s check the delivery details privately. I’ll follow the event’s resend process or connect you with the person who can help.” Avoid asking someone to call their address across the line.
The operator’s note needs four fields: session reference if available, reported issue, action taken, and follow-up owner. Participant details belong in the agreed support system, not a loose list attached to the public run sheet.
Do not edit an unrelated marketing record merely to solve photo delivery. Delivery correction and a change to marketing preferences are different actions. Keep the guest’s actual request clear when escalating it.
