How to close a photo booth line without disappointing guests

Set a last-entry rule before the event. Guests need to know whether closing time means the line stops accepting people or the final photo is taken. The attendant should have a clear answer while there is still time to explain it.
Make the rule visible early.
Include the guest-facing finish time in event information and brief the host. Give a reminder before closing when appropriate. Do not let a queue grow beyond the agreed operating window simply because nobody has authority to stop entry.
Name the organizer who can approve paid extra time. The attendant can request that decision without promising an extension to guests first.
Close the output handoff
Confirm how remaining prints are collected and what staff do with unclaimed outputs. Keep delivery support instructions available after capture stops. Equipment removal should begin only after the agreed guest handoff is complete.
Plan operating hours with this distinction in mind. A clear closing process is part of the booking scope, not a conversation to start while the crew is packing.
Give the host a closing announcement
Use a message such as: “The photo line accepts its last group at [time]. If you are already photographed, collect your prints at [place].” Fill it with the agreed rule rather than improvising a vague final call.
The attendant needs two separate decisions: when to stop adding groups and who can approve an extension. If an extension is declined, keep the message consistent rather than telling guests different finish times.
Before removal, check outstanding pickups and support instructions. Closing capture does not immediately end every guest obligation. Assign that final handoff so the collection crew does not pack away outputs people were told to retrieve.
